Drought conditions are getting worse across South Dakota and the extended forecast isn’t showing any relief. Higher temperatures than average and mostly dry weather have been the norm since the start of fall. Dry conditions continue to pose the biggest threat to western South Dakota, which has been dealing with several fires in recent weeks. Almost half the state is considered to be in a drought, which now officially includes the Sioux Falls area. The National Weather Service shows a zero-to-ten-percent chance of rain over at least the next ten days.
