The playoffs are looming! 9-man is set to start their playoffs next week, and the A-AAA will begin soon as well. We are in the final weeks for teams to make a statement to either be included in the Top 5 of the polls or to be included in the Playoffs at all.
Here are my Top 5 Games in the state of North Dakota this week (10-11)
1. #5 Central McClean @ #4 Linton HMB (9-Man)
- The Number 4 spot in 9-man will be up for grabs, and will also cause some implications for other teams trying to crack the Top 5.. Linton HMB got a sloppy win over 1 win Kidder County last week, will they survive this week playing a Top 5 team like when they played South Border a couple of weeks ago? North Border fans will also be paying attention to this game, with a win and a loss by one of these teams, they should be in the top 5 in 9-man entering the playoffs.
2. #3 Devils Lake @ #2 West Fargo Horace (AA)
- Number 2 in AA will be up for grabs in this game, unless something unexpected happens in Red River against Wahpeton, this matchup could decide whose going to be number 2 in the AA playoffs when they start in a couple weeks. Devils Lake has been up and down the polls this season, and had some help with losses by other Top 5 teams, can they travel to Fargo and get the win and steal the #2 spot from Horace who has been consistently in 2 spot for the last couple of weeks?
3. Bishop Ryan @ Ray Powers Lake (A)
- Bishop Ryan ran into the one other team you don’t wanna face in Class A besides Kindred last week, Velva, and was beat handedly on the road. Bishop Ryan received votes in last weeks polls, but will face another formidable opponent Ray Powers Lake who has quietly had good season at 5-2. To get back into the Top 5 of the polls Bishop Ryan will need a win tonight and some help by other teams upsetting the 4, and 5 teams.
4. #4 Jamestown @ St. Mary’s (AA)
- Jamestown righted some wrongs last week traveling to #3 Dickinson and winning, with that win Jamestown was vaulted back into the Top 5, while St. Mary’s was ousted losing to Valley City. St. Mary’s could use a win tonight to get back into the Top 5 for better seeding, Jamestown will need the win to do the same. Can the Jamestown offense score some points just as they did last week vs Dickinson? Can St. Mary’s avoid the home loss and get back into the Top 5?
5. Cavalier @ North Border (9-Man)
- As stated in Game 1 this week, North Border will be paying attention to the score of Central McClean and Linton HMB, whichever team loses, and with a good win tonight against a 5-2 Cavalier team, North Border should end the regular season in the 4th or 5th spot in the 9 man polls depending on the outcomes. Cavalier with a win will welcome better playoff seeding with a road win tonight.
As the playoff picture unfold, be sure to tune into the Prep Sports Roundup tonight from 7-10 on KSJB 100.1 FM and 600 AM for all the score updates, live in game updates, and analysis on how the playoffs could play out!
