Vikings Off, NFC North Rolls in Week 6

By Ryan King Oct 14, 2024 | 8:16 AM

The undefeated 5-0 Minnesota Vikings were off this week, but the 3 other teams that make up the NFC North were in action, and again continued to show that the North is one of the strongest and toughest divisions in football.

Starting off on early Sunday Morning, the Chicago Bears dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars in London 34-16. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams shined in his first international action throwing for 226 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Cole Kmet, and Keenan Allen each caught a touchdown in the Bears win to go 4-2.

In the afternoon the Green Bay Packers earned a complete team win defeating the Arizona Cardinals 34-13 at Lambeau Field. Jordan Love would have himself a day throwing for 258 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Romeo Doubs returned from his suspension and caught two of Love’s touchdown passes. The Packers defense also came to play causing 3 fumbles all recovered by the defense. The Packers improved to 4-2 going into next weeks big showdown with the 5-1 Houston Texans.

And on Sunday afternoon, the Detroit Lions completely dismantled the Dallas Cowboys on Jerry Jones’ 82nd birthday winning 47-9. Jared Goff threw for 315 yards and 3 touchdowns, improving the Lions’ record to 4-1, setting up a big showdown between the division leading Vikings and Detroit next week at US Bank Stadium.

With the 3 wins and the Vikings bye, the NFC North remains as the only division in football with all 4 teams holding a winning record. Currently Minnesota leads, rightfully so, at 5-0, followed by Detroit at 4-1, Green Bay in third place at 4-2, and Chicago in fourth place at 4-2. As we enter week 7, the NFC North stands out as one of the best divisions in football, but can they keep this up? And what kind of pace will this have on the playoff picture once its starts to take form? Good questions to ask as the NFL season approaches its almost half way point.
