North Dakota State University (NDSU) is launching the Extension Master Gardener Program, offering online training in 2025 for gardening enthusiasts.. This national volunteer initiative collaborates with land-grant universities and is currently accepting applications for the 2025 Core Course, which runs from January 24 to April 4, 2025. Participants will engage in a 40-hour training covering essential topics like vegetable and fruit production, soil health, and composting.

The program’s flexibility will cater to both working individuals and those living elsewhere, allowing those participants to attend live classes on Friday mornings or watch recorded lectures at their convenience. After completing the course, participants must volunteer 48 hours on horticultural projects over two years to achieve certification. The course fee is $225, with a non-volunteer option for $450, and applications are open until November 1.
