A new bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives seeking to extend the clean fuel production credit (CFPC) for biofuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), by ten years, pushing the expiration date to 2037.

The Expanding Clean Fuel Production Act aims to provide economic certainty for farmers and stimulate job growth while reducing carbon emissions.

The biofuels trade association Growth Energy estimates that properly implemented CFPC could contribute $21.2 billion to the U.S. economy, generate nearly $13.4 billion in household income, and support over 192,000 jobs. Growth Energy is also calling for the U.S. Treasury to provide clear guidance on the 45Z tax credit to encourage a broader array of emissions reduction strategies in bioethanol production.
