The Jamestown Finance and Legal Committee unanimously recommended approval for adjustments to utility rates Tuesday. The adjustment is set to take place on Jan. 1 if they are approved by the Jamestown City Council at its meeting on Nov. 4.

Adjustments would include a sewer rate jump of 40 cents from $8.25 per month to $8.65 per month in residences, businesses, commercial buildings and industrial. There would also be a 15-cent increase in water use per 100 cubic feet. Commercial multi-unit rental and living units would receive a 25-cent increase.

Amongst other changes, licenses like those to own a cat or a dog could increase. Licenses for an excavator, gas fitter, house-moving, fireworks, street vendor, and more would also be on the rise.
