FBI probing American woman’s death on Aruba-bound cruise ship

The FBI is investigating the mysterious death of an American woman aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean. The 52-year-old woman died Tuesday morning, after reportedly plunging from the upper deck of a Royal Princess cruise ship that was heading to Aruba from Fort Lauderdale. Aruba-based media report a man was seen choking the woman before the fall, and her death is being treated as a possible murder. In a statement to CBS News, Princess Cruises said,

 

Despite scathing report, Facebook’s top execs “probably not” leaving

Facebook is under fire again for how it handled evidence of Russian election interference on its site. A scathing New York Times report says CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg “ignored warning signs and then sought to conceal them from public view.” The Times reports security experts at Facebook flagged attempts by Russian hackers to probe accounts as early as spring 2016 – months before Zuckerberg downplayed the effect of Russian propaganda on the 2016 election.

 

With nowhere to go, wildfire evacuees set up camp in Walmart parking lot

California officials say they’ve identified most of the 59 people known to have died in wildfires that started a week ago. Searchers recovered eight more victims of the Camp Fire north of Sacramento Wednesday, along with a third victim of the Woolsey Fire near Los Angeles. The Camp Fire has destroyed nearly 9,000 homes and forced at least 52,000 people to evacuate. Mireya Villarreal reports.
