Former Director of Juvenile Drug Program in Jametown Named in Lawsuit
FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The director of a former youth chemical dependency center in Jamestown agreed to pay $1.5 million in a civil suit over accusations of misconduct among staff members, one of whom allegedly had sex with residents and encouraged them to use drugs and alcohol

Recently unsealed court documents show that the complaint was filed six years ago on behalf of 11 minors against Fargo-based Drake Counseling Center Inc. and Charles Drake. The suit says the center "absolutely failed in its duty to the children involved."

No criminal charges were filed in the case and the Drake Counseling Center license is in good standing with the state. Drake now runs a similar adolescent treatment center near Detroit Lakes.

Drake and his lawyer in the case did not respond to requests for comment.
